Sukkot is a Jewish holiday celebrated in Israel on the fifth day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei. During the holiday, families build a sukkah (temporary outdoor hut) and spend time in it, eating, praying, and rejoicing. On this day, Jews remember the journey of the Israelites in the desert after their exodus from Egypt, and thank God for the bounty of the harvest. In Israel, special prayers and traditions are observed, and special decorations are made for the sukkah.
