Sukkot is an important Jewish holiday celebrated in Israel on the sixth day of the Jewish month of Tishrei. It is a seven-day holiday that commemorates the 40 years the Israelites spent wandering in the desert. On Sukkot, people build and decorate sukkot (booths) to live in for the duration of the holiday. They also take part in special holiday prayers, eat festive meals, and visit with family and friends.
