Buddha Purnima, also known as Vesak, is an annual festival celebrated in India to commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and passing away of Gautama Buddha. It is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Vaisakh (April–May). It is a major holiday in India, and Buddhists from all over the country come together to participate in meditation, prayers, and other festivities. Traditionally, people decorate their homes and temples with colorful lights and offer food to the monks. Events are also held across the country to celebrate Buddha’s teachings and raise awareness about Buddhism.
