Mahavir Jayanti is a religious holiday celebrated by Jains in India to commemorate the birth of Mahavira, the last of the 24 great teachers of Jainism. The festival is celebrated on the 13th day of the rising moon in the month of Chaitra in the Hindu calendar (March or April). On this day, Jains gather in temples to worship and offer prayers. They also observe fasting, perform religious rituals, and exchange gifts and sweets.
