Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure. People with anxiety may experience feelings of fear, dread, uneasiness, and worry. These feelings can interfere with everyday activities such as job performance, social interactions, and general quality of life. Symptoms of anxiety can include restlessness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, muscle tension, sleep disturbances, and difficulty managing worry. People with anxiety may also be at an increased risk for developing physical health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, and metabolic syndrome.
